30th Birthday Road Trip

Museum members gathered on August 24, 2010 for lunch and guided tours of Benton County historic sites including the Hull-Oakes Lumber Company mill, the Buchanan Century Farm and Tyee Winery and Gerry O'Brien's tree farm on the site of the former Bandbox School. Mary Gallagher and Bob Rackham provided "step on" tour guide commentary about Benton County history. Click on the photos below to see larger versions.

Unsalable side products like sawdust and shavings are burned in the Boiler Building to generate steam.

Steam Engine
The 1906 Ames steam engine uses two 16" cylinders to produce 450 horse power for running the main saw and the edger.
