Featured quilt: Old Maid's Ramble Quilt

Description of Top
Old Maid's Ramble pieced quilt (97" x 87") in red and green on cream with chintz border. Quilt top is cotton. Fabric print is floral, chintz border printed panels. Blocks (7 ¾" square) are 30 pieced with 42 alternating plain blocks, 30 half blocks in red, and 4 corner blocks in red. Set is 5 x 6 (patterned blocks). Block orientation is on point. There are two borders, inner border is pieced sawtooth pattern in red and cream. Outer border is chintz.

Quilt Back
Muslin in 5 pieces.

Quilting
Hand quilting is exceptional @ 14 stitches per inch, medium in quantity and fine in quality. Quilting patterns include chevron in partials, diagonal and chevron in chintz border, cross hatch in Old Maid's Ramble blocks, florals in alternate blocks (e.g., grapes, sunflowers, pineapple).

Finishing
Quilt edges are straight, corners square. Self bound, front brought to back.

Condition
Damage minimal, dye fading, fabric deterioration, stains.

Miscellaneous
SC states: "flower garden made into 'everlastings' by the beautiful quilting." Graphite evident as quilting pattern marking. Chintz exceptional.
