Featured artifact: Bronze Mercury Statue
The original version of Giovanni Da Bologana's bronze sculpture of Mercury was completed by 1580 in Florence, Italy. This copy was also cast in Florence and shipped to the United States in the early 1900s. When Dr. E. J. Kraus resigned as dean of the service departments in 1919, he purchased the statue of Mercury as an inspirational gift for the students of Oregon Agricultural College.
